Roadworks due to finish at end of month

-

Work on a major road link between Neilston and Uplawmoor is continuing.

Lochlibo Road, which runs from Barrhead all the way to Ayrshire, is being upgraded, with work due to be completed on April 28.

During the resurfacing, Lochlibo Road will be closed, with the necessary diversions put in place.

Access will be granted for local residents directly affected by the works and businesses located within the relevant closure area, East Renfrewshire Council bosses said.

The second and final phase is currently being carried out, which is the section from Shillford Road to Neilston Road, Uplawmoor.

A temporary 40mph speed limit will be in place on Uplawmoor Road for the duration of the works as well as a set of one-way roads at the overlap of the road closure sections.

“We are committed to improving our road network and invest around £4.2m every year to maintain key routes throughout East Renfrewshire,”Councillor Tony Buchanan, convener for infrastructure and sustainable growth, said.

“Lochlibo Road is well-used by residents and commuters from further afield so I’m pleased that such extensive work is now being carried out to resurface the road.

“I appreciate that the closure will cause some delays, but we appreciate residents’patience as we carry out these improvement works.”
