M8 road works warning

-

An M8 sliproad will be closed for four nights for resurfacing works.

Roads bosses are shutting off westbound junction 30 at Erskine to carry out £240,000 repairs to a 1km stretch.

Diversions will be in place between next Monday and Friday, with additional upgrades running into Saturday afternoon.

Alan Murray, principal design engineer for the Scotland TranServ, which maintains the network, says the works must be carried out.

He said: “This is not only one of Scotland’s busiest roads, but it is also an essential commuter, economic and tourist artery.

“That is why we are doing everything possible to minimise disruption by using overnight working to deliver long-term benefits to motorists.

“The M8 is an essential economic artery across Central Scotland, with busy communities and many large employers located adjacent to the motorway.”

Motorists will be told to leave the M8 at junction 29, driving onto the A726 towards Erskine, then the M898 onslip towards Greenock, before returning to the M8, using the junction 30 on-slip.

The restrictions come into force between 8pm and 6am from Tuesday to Thursday and 8pm until noon on Friday and Saturday.

The eastbound lanes will be unaffected.
