Find the Buddies’ stars of the future
Saints seek volunteer talent scouts
Do you have an eye for a player? If so, then St Mirren want to hear from you.
The Saints are looking to recruit volunteer talent scouts to help identify future stars for the St Mirren Youth Academy.
As part of the club’s recruitment team, any applicants must be flexible in their approach to scouting teams in different areas and across age groups.
With the next Stevie Mallan or Lewis Morgan just waiting to be discovered, you could help develop the team’s future squad.
A club spokesman said: “The position would suit someone who currently works for a professional club in a scouting capacity or who has worked within grassroots football or schools football.
“The club is seeking to recruit well- organised and motivated scouts, with a good knowledge of football, to identify and invite players aged from nine to 17.”
Positions are available in the following areas: Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire, Glasgow and District, North Lanarkshire, R e n f re w s h i re and South Lanarkshire.
Candidates must have an identifiable track record in grassroots coaching/ schools football or scouting and recruitment and be personable, approachable and have a player first attitude at all times.
They must also have excellent organisational, communication, IT and reporting skills with meticulous attention to detail and be prepared to work and perform scouting in the evenings and at weekends.
A good understanding of children’s welfare and safeguarding is also important.
All candidates will have to successfully complete a PVG application before starting the role.
Anyone interested should send a covering letter, with a description of how they will be suitable to the role, to gary.piggott@stmirren.com
