MP takes a gamble for charity campaign

-

MP Gavin Newlands popped in to the William Hill bookie’s shop in Renfrew yesterday to show his support for The Bobby Moore Fund’s Football Shirt Friday campaign.

Football Shirt Friday asks people up and down the country to donate £2 to wear their favourite footy jersey for the day.

William Hill, who are sponsoring and taking part in Football Shirt Friday for the second year running, will be providing a £50 charity bet to raise further funds for the Bobby Moore Fund, the proceeds of which will go towards clinical trials and research into bowel cancer.

The company is also using its UK-wide network of offices and shops to educate customers and colleagues on the risks of bowel cancer, which kills 44 people every day in the UK.

Bill South, director of Security and Community Affairs, said : “It’s a real privilege to be supporting this campaign for the second year running.

“Last year, our colleagues and customers raised a phenomenal £20,000 to help the fund’s battle against bowel cancer. With the outstanding support of the whole William Hill community, we’ll be looking to go one better in 2017.”
