Generous cyclists get on their bikes to raise cash for children’s charity
Nearly 300 cyclists took fundraising up a gear to raise saddle bags of cash for a leading children’s charity.
Riders took on a gruelling 100km money- spinner around Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park in aid of CLIC Sargent in Scotland.
Teams from across Renfrewshire took part in the epic challenge over winding roads around the beauty spot.
Rachael Mclean, the cause’s fundraising manager, was on hand to help dish out prizes to racers.
She said: “It was an absolutely pleasure cheering everyone over the finish line and giving out the medals.
“It was great to meet everyone and amazing to hear all the positive feedback from all the riders.
“Thank you to everyone for supporting our work with young cancer patients.
“We rely entirely on donations to provide our vital services that help stop cancer destroying young lives and we couldn’t do it without you.”
Pa i s l e y Velos and Johnstone Wheelers were among the homegrown athletes taking part.
The fastest crossed the finish line in three and a half hours, with most completed the route within six hours.
Last weekend’s event attracted bike fans from across Central Scotland even as far away as Aberdeen and Essex.
Organisers The Ride 63 Community Cycling Club have already pencilled in April 22 for the 2018 run.
