Christopher’s lion cashes in
A roaringly talented artist bagged his school a cash boost after winning a competition to design a new mascot.
Christopher McCall, 10, won first place with his lion design in the hunt to find a character for Paisley First.
Williamsburgh Primary was presented with the cheque by the business improvement group.
Ian Henderson, chairman of Paisley First, says the scheme brought youngsters together to support their town.
He said: “It’s important to involve the children in all the positive projects we are working on to bring more people to the town centre.
“It’s great that the parent council at Williamsburgh Primary School is able to benefit from the success of the school’s talented pupils. We are all excited for next month when we will be welcoming Christopher’s winning design, Paisley Lion, to the town centre.”
P6 pupil Christopher’s design secured him £25 and was picked from hundreds of entries and paid tribute to the art trail popular last summer.
Headteacher Nova Scott said: “We are so proud of Christopher and his winning design. I am sure our fantastic parent council will have no shortage of ideas on how to spend the prize of £200.”
WIlliamsburgh Primary is staging its annual spring fair tomorrow from 11am until 1pm.
