that has eluded them for the past three seasons.

“With goals from Breadner and Walton-Craig the boys showed their true worth and gave me, as retiring headteacher, the dream finish in the last ever game of schools’ football.

“What a night for players, parents and staff to enjoy and whilst commiserations go to the valiant losers on the night, full credit must go to the Gleniffer High School boys for their belief and their desire to achieve”

Meanwhile, Duncan was delighted after his side managed to sign off the season with a win for Mr Nicholls.

And Duncan dedicated the win to their outgoing teacher and boss following years of coaching for the side.

He said: “The team are delighted with the win after last year’s disappointment.

“To reverse the result and send Mr Nicholls out with a win was a great pleasure for myself and all the boys.

“It was a hard-fought game in surprisingly challenging heat, but I believe that we were the worthy winners and deserved to lift the silverware.

“After the disappointment of being knocked out the Scottish Cup in the quarters by one goal, and to lose the league play-offs on penalties, this result was a good way to end the season.

“It’s been a great season, losing only twice, and this win makes it ever so much better.

“On behalf of the team I’d like to say a huge thanks to Mr Nicholls himself for dedicating time out his busy schedule to run the teams over the years as none of this would be possible without his time and his hard work.

“I finally want to wish Mr Nicholls good luck in the future as he moves onto another chapter in his life when he retires at the end of the term.

“The team hopes we’ve done him and the school proud and sent him out on a high.”
