Davie hails Buddies for supporting his shop
A Paisley barber shop was judged to be a cut above the rest a top industry award ceremony.
Davie the Barber scooped the prestigious Look Award for the Best Scottish Barber Shop 2017 and owner Davie Walker, 32, says he is delighted with the backing his team and customers have given him.
Davie, who recently opened a second shop in Barrhead, was thrilled to walk away with one of the most coveted prizes in the hair and beauty sector.
He said: “The award takes into account a range of things, like how well the shop is performing, the feedback we are getting and my work for the industry as a whole, so that is great.
“To be recognised by the Look awards is pretty special.
“And I’m glad we have won it because the whole team work really hard.
“The staff and myself regularly work 72- hour weeks, with late nights. Sometimes we don’t get out of the shop until 9pm or 10pm on a Friday night.”
The Look Awards were held at the Radisson Blu, in Glasgow, this week and brought together a host of top names in the field from all across Scotland.
Davie added: “There are some great shops out, there but we managed to pick up the prize.
“It was great moment because it marks 10 years this week of us being open in Paisley.
“The people of Paisley have supported the shop throughout that time and I can’t thank them enough.
“There have been some hard times in Paisley recently with shops closing down and trade leaving the town, but this is a bit of positive news.
“I’ve worked in the town for 19 years now and had my own shop for 10.
“To win the award and Paisley be the home of the Scotland’s best barber shop is a great achievement.
“I hope it goes to help us winning the UK City of Culture 2021.”
Having recently opened a shop in Grahamston Road, Barrhead, Davie is now training the next generation of barbers.
He added: “We are still thriving in Paisley and we are now training the next generation of barbers to work in the shop.”
