A man has been charged with attempted murder over a stabbing on a packed

The 41- year- old was arrested in connection with a knife attack on a busy McGill’s bus in

Neilston Road at 11.15am on Saturday morning.

His alleged victim, 39, was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries but later discharged himself.

Police launched a manhunt following the attack and arrested the suspect on Sunday morning.

One terrified eyewitness who was walking past at the time told the Paisley Daily Express that she was left badly shaken by the incident.

She said: “The bus driver was in tears. She was clearly distressed.

“It was quite scary but I had no idea the guy was stabbed. I wondered why the driver was crying so much, I thought maybe she had been hit.”

Police and ambulance crews raced to the scene and the street was closed for several hours while officers conducted their inquiries.

A Pol i c e S c o t l a n d spokesman said: “At around 11.15 am on Saturday, May 20, police were called to a report of a man having been attacked by another man on board a public service bus in Neilston Road, Paisley.

“A 41-year-old man from the Paisley area has been charged with attempted murder in relation to this incident.”

He added: “The two males are known to each other. I would like to reassure members of the public that there is no ongoing risk at this time.”

The man is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
