Hunt for armed robber
Detectives last night appealed for help to track down a masked knifeman who robbed a Paisley shop before fleeing on a mountain bike.
At around 1.20pm on Tuesday, the armed thug stormed into the Value Rite Local shop in Barscube Terrace before threatening shopworker Mizanur Rahman with a blade and demanding cash.
The Paisley Daily Express yesterday reported how Mr Rahman was left uninjured but shaken by the frightening robbery, which is similar to an armed raid which took place at the shop seven months ago.
The suspect, who was wearing gloves and had his face covered, stole a threefigure sum of money.
He was described as having a very slim build and around 5ft 7ins in height.
He was wearing a black hooded top and navy blue trousers, possibly tracksuit trousers, and left the scene on a silver mountain bike in the direction of the Hunterhill Road area.
Officers are conducting door- to- door enquiries and will be gathering CCTV footage for review.
Detective Sergeant Michael Lochrie said: “This incident occurred around lunchtime in a well- established residential area.
“I am appealing to members of the local community to consider what they may have seen yesterday — it may seem an insignificant event, but it could prove vital and help us identify the suspect.
“Perhaps you noticed the suspect either prior to, or following the incident. Did you see someone on a silver mountain bike?
“If y o u have any information or knowledge, please do pass it on.
“The shop is regularly used by members of the local community and I’m sure someone will have seen something which could assist our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Paisley police station via 101.
