A mental health charity’s annual quiz has raised a mighty £14,000 to bolster services for people in need of support.

RAMH – Recovery Across Mental Health – hosted its biggest fundraiser to date and raised the incredible amount thanks to 255 guests on the night.

The RAMH Dinner and Quiz, sponsored by the University of the West of Scotland, was held at the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew with a mixture of corporate teams, friends and families out to enjoy the night.

Broadcaster and writer Vanessa Collingridge hosted the event and guests enjoyed eight rounds of quiz questions.

Rounds included: sport, read by St Mirren chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick; TV and movies, read by Tom Johnston of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce; food and drink from Paisley MSP and RAMH supporter George Adam and science and nature by the university’s dean of health, nursing and midwifery, Karen Wilson.

The quiz was compiled by RAMH supporter Gerry Grant, who created around 130 presentation slides for an on-screen, interactive experience.

Karen Wilson said: “We are delighted to be headline sponsors for the RAMH Dinner and Quiz for the third consecutive year. We know that RAMH services are helping people turn their lives around and we are proud to support them and the work they do.”

RAMH chief executive Stephen McLellan said the money will really help vital services.

He added: “We were thrilled to have so many supporters in the room who clearly understood the importance of mental health and wellbeing. Our crucial services benefit more than 4,000 people every year and the money raised will be helping people to recover from mental ill health, empowering them to build fulfilled lives – regardless of their diagnosis.

“We sincerely thank everyone who attended, donated prizes or volunteered their time to make this event the huge success that it was.

“We couldn’t have achieved this without them.

“Special thanks to Vanessa Collingridge for hosting the event with total professionalism. We are so pleased to be delivering services in communities who support good mental health and wellbeing.”

RAMH promotes recovery from mental ill health and empowers people to build independent, fulfilled lives. It supports a range of diagnoses including depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.
