The customer is always right for prize guy Andy
He scoops top award
25.05.2017 A gas worker has beat 4,000 others to land a top award for serving the public.
Andy McGuire, 54, scooped the customer experience gong at SGN’s Outstanding People Awards.
The Renfrew man collected the trophy after making a shortlist of 24 from across the UK at a bash at Glasgow’s plush Grand Central Hotel.
He said: “I don’t see what I do as being out of the ordinary – I just treat my customers as I’d like to be treated myself.
“I enjoy my work – no two days are the same – and I get satisfaction out of going that extra mile.”
Andy works at SGN’s Glasgow depot and won for his commitment to mentoring colleagues and dealing with customers.
Ian Waddell, the firm’s emergency team manager, nominated the worker and hailed him for his service.
He said: “It would be hard to see how anyone could fail to be inspired by Andy.
“His approach to customer service has encouraged hundreds of customers to score him 10 out of 10 for customer service.”
SGN manages the network distributing natural and green gas to almost six million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England.
John Morea, chief executive of the company, says it is important to recognise the achievements of staff.
He said: “I would like to congratulate Andy and the other finalists, who really do epitomise what SGN is all about.
“The awards are a chance to recognise some of the amazing work that goes on in our depots and offices across Scotland and the south of England every day.”
