Comic’s show looks on the bright side of life

Stuart will give a funny take on his tales of tragedy

- Kenneth Speirs

Paisley audiences will get a chance to find out what all the fuss is about when comedian Stuart Mitchell takes his first bow in Paisley.

Stuart will be appearing at the town’s arts centre following big success at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe, which was also a debut for the funny man that saw him lauded in the press as “Scotland’s brightest comedy talent”.

He told the Paisley Daily Express he was looking forward to treading the boards here.

Stuart, who is married to Funbox star Hannah Mitchell, said: “Although this is my first time in Paisley with my debut show, whenever I have done short spots or sets in the town it’s been great.

“My wife also loves the Paisley audiences when performing for the kids shows for Funbox. They shout, scream and do all the dances. And that’s just the parents.”

Stuart show has a personal theme in which he tells how he has been dealt a bad hand.

From tragic accidents and medical complications to losing both parents, his gig promises to be a hilarious take on dealing with life’s misfortunes and coming out the other end unscathed.

And it’s been a busy time for the comedian.

The start of 2017 saw Stuart touring Australia as part of ‘Best of the Fest’ line up and he has also recently supported Stewart Francis and Hal Cruttenden on their national tours.

He has very quickly become one of the most exciting talents in recent years, even if he says so himself.

Stuart has performed in the biggest comedy clubs in the UK, including the world famous Comedy Store.

He has also recently thrilled audiences in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York, where he caught the eye of Hollywood megastar Will Ferrell, who thought he was a hoot.

And he has also made regular appearances on BBC Radio Scotland’s comedy panel show Breaking the News and TV appearances on this year’s The Workplace (CBBC) and On The Road With Fred Macaulay on BBC One Scotland.

He has written for Mock the Week (BBC1), The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4) and is now working with BBC Comedy on a scripted development project.

See Stuart at Paisley Arts Centre on Friday, June 9, at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 (£8 concession) and are available by calling 0300 300 1210 or at www. renfrewshireleisure.com
