Andy is back at Rugby Park again
Former St Mirren defender and assistant manager Andy Millen has agreed a deal to become Kilmarnock’s new under-20 manager.
Millen, who served Saints in both roles between 2004 and 2008, recently left his position as development squad manager at Championship and Renfrewshire rivals Greenock Morton.
And he is set to return to the club where he made his name at during his playing days.
The 51-year-old former defender played for Killie between 1993 and 1995, before joining Hibernian and then Raith and Ayr United.
He signed for St Mirren from Clyde in 2004 to serve as Gus MacPherson’s assistant manager following the departure of Mixu Paatelainen.
The duo would enjoy a successful spell in charge of the side, leading them to promotion from the First Division in 2006.
Millen said: “I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to come back. I did have some very good times here, especially during the Tommy Burns and Billy Stark era, and when the club went into the Premiership it was fantastic.
“One thing I always look for is a hunger and an enthusiasm about the players.
“Secondly, I want them to go and express themselves and hopefully move forward into the first team.
“The under-20 job is not about my achievement, it is about trying to polish the youngsters and hopefully then the manager sees that and he takes a shine to that kid and give them an opportunity in the first team.”
