Hunt on for good Scouts
New Scout groups are being planned for three areas of Renfrewshire.
Gary Ward has been given an 18- month long task to create new groups in Ferguslie Park, Linwood and Johnstone.
Scouts Scotland has appointed him as local development officer for Renfrewshire, and his job is to create and establish new groups for young people aged from six to 25.
Gary is also keen to hear from adults aged over 18 who’d like to volunteer their time with the new groups.
He’s been in touch with Engage Renfrewshire to highlight adult volunteering opportunities and has been visiting local schools to spread the word about his plans.
There are five options for young people to get involved in Scouting – Beavers is for youngsters aged five and three- quarters to eight ; Cubs is for eight to 10-anda-half year olds; Scouts is for 10- and- a- half to 14- yearolds; Explorers is for 14 to 18-year-olds and Network is for 18 to 25-year-olds.
