Neilston rounded off their season with a stunning victory over Greenock to finish the season in seventh place.

With Martin Campbell and John Paul Dow trying to put their own stamp on the side during their debut season at the club, it was fitting that they faced their former side, with the win meaning that they finished above ‘Nok in the final Central District standings.

But it was the visitors that stormed out of the traps and managed to fire themselves in front in the opening exchanges to see them jump ahead of the Farmer’s Boys in the standings. However, Neilston continued to battle on, and finally got their rewards thanks to an equaliser from Craig Patterson to level up the scoring at the Brig O’Lea.

The scores would remain level up until the break, but a half-time talking to from the management team saw Neilston fight their way back into the game in the second half as they surged into the lead.

David Hannah’s effort ensure that the home support had something to cheer, and Patterson was on hand to double his tally for the night as Neilston secured all three points at the expense of their rivals.

Neilston: Graham, Docherty, Payne, Geddes, McDade, Bamford, Curren, Diack, Patterson, Stewart, Hannah.

Subs: Paterson, Hemphill, Dow, Gunn and Strachan.
