Fantastic array of entertainment and stalls lined-up

- Alison Rennie

Just days remain until festival fun hits Renfrew gala day on Sunday.

This year’s event is taking place at Renfrew Leisure Centre and promises an exciting array of activities for all the family, including a funfair, inflatables, face painting and lots more.

An underwater-themed parade will set off from Robertson Park at 1pm, featuring a variety of local community groups and families.

When it arrives at the leisure centre on Paisley Road, the gala day will officially open with a range of activities, including a petting zoo, community and craft stalls and live entertainment from Pulse FM.

Renfrew Football Club and Paisley Rugby Club will be letting people try the sport, while cheerleaders from Jazzle Dazzle will also be showing off their skills.

And the Caravan Obscura will let you experience an extraordinary light installation.

Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron said: “Renfrew gala day is a terrific event for all the family and it’s always brilliant to see thousands turn out within the community.

“With all the activities on display and free entry, where better to spend a Sunday afternoon with your family and friends?

“Go along and sample the fantastic food, stalls and activities — you won’t be disappointed.”

The gala day precedes a viewing of Renfrew on Film 3 — a show featuring local previously lost archive footage to the soundtrack of the Renfrew Burgh Band.

The screening takes place on Thursday, June 15, from 7pm till 9pm, at Renfrew Town Hall, supported by Renfrew Leisure, Renfrew Museum Group and Renfrew Burgh Band.

Tickets are free and available to pick up at Renfrew Town Hall, or through Eventbrite online.

Admission to Sunday’s gala is free and it runs from 1pm till 5pm.
