Joy as author books in to open homes
Author Liz Macintyre showed she is made of the write stuff – when she officially opened Paisley Buddies’ new retirement homes.
The popular novelist visted McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living development Ashwood Court in the town, where she unveiled a commemorative plaque.
And Liz also did a special book signing of her latest title ‘ Love Letters from a Desert Rat – Alex and Nan’s Story’ for the residents, as well as joining a reception in the homeowners’ lounge.
She said: “I was honoured to be asked to perform the official opening of the Ashwood Court Retirement Living development in Paisley.
“I was particularly pleased to share the family story of my father’s letters to my mother written from Egypt, Sicily and Italy over his four-and-a half years as a soldier in the 8th Army.
“The homeowners gave me a wonderful reception and proved to be a superb audience.
“It was a pleasure to sign a personalised copy of Love Letters from a Desert Rat – Alex and Nan’s
Story for everyone who was present on such a special occasion in the wonderful setting of Ashwood Court.”
Jonathan Fair, Managing Director for McCarthy & Stone in Scotland, told the Paisley Daily Express: “We were delighted to welcome Liz Macintyre to our development in Paisley, and we were thrilled that she took the time to share the inspiration and the story behind her book ‘ Love Letters from a Desert Rat – Alex and Nan’s Story’ which proved to be a really special way to mark the opening of our development.”
