Morgan’s Lego animation workshop is a box office hit
02.06.2017 The hugely popular series of events being held in the run-up to this year’s Lilias Day enjoyed another sellout success.
Seventeen-year-old internet sensation Morgan Spence, from Kilbarchan, held a Lego Animation Workshop at the village’s Performing Arts Centre as part of Lilifest.
Wunderkind Morgan notches up an amazing 10 million online views of his animated films.
He has also appeared in the BBC and the US’s ABC to talk about his work, which features clever animation of Lego models.
At Lilifest Morgan hosted a 90-minute workshop. He shared his experiences and knowledge of the craft before assisting participants in creating their own animated clips using Lego.
He said: “It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the Lilifest animation workshop.
“I enjoyed sharing my experiences as a filmmaker with those who attended and it was great to watch the clips that the children created.
“They were really creative and I have certainly been impressed by their skills.
“I wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to get involved in stop motion animation, by using tablets and mobile phones to bring Lego to life.
“There was a brilliant turnout, with people travelling from across the west of Scotland to be there.
“I hope the workshop has inspired more people to get involved in animation.”
As revealed in the Paisley Daily Express, Morgan is famous for creating a speciallycommissioned Lego animation for Paisley’s City of Culture Bid to highlight all the talent that has come out of the town.
He also created an video for superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold, the Red Cross Disaster campaign and has worked with Lego artist Warren Elsmore to bring some of his creations to life.
Lilifest is a festival of community events that have been created for the run-up to Lilias Day.
The big day is Kilbarchan’s unique gala, with roots going back hundreds of years.
