Murder accused in court

Alyson Watt, of Penilee Road, was found dead at her home.

A 16- year- old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reason, remains in a critical condition at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after the incident, which rocked the town.

It ’ s understood the teenager has been placed in a medically-induced coma while doctors treat his severe injuries.

Ms Watt, 52, was a domestic abuse counsellor for children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Following her death, Martin Crewe, who is director of Barnardo’s Scotland, paid tribute to his tragic colleague.

Mr Crewe said: “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the death of our colleague Alyson, who was a much-valued and longstandi­ng member of staff in Paisley.

“Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this tragedy.”

Paul Masterton, chairman of Ralston Community Council, told the Paisley Daily Express the community would support Alyson’s family.

He added: “I want to express our deepest sympathies with Alyson’s family and friends.

“Ralston is a quiet area and I know that our close- knit community will pull together, providing the family and the authoritie­s with all the assistance they need.”

Gary Brown, 54, was arrested in Dumfries and Galloway in connection with Ms Watt’s death and the alleged attack on the teenager.

He was treated in hospital for injuries before being transferre­d to Paisley to appear at court yesterday.
