There was fun for all the family at St Charles’s Church annual summer fete.

While the rain held off, there was a barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting and a plants stall to enjoy outside.

Then, when the rain came on, everyone moved inside the church hall to enjoy the many stalls and tea room.

One of the organisers, Jean Urquhart, said: “It was a great day. The rain held off long enough for people to enjoy the outside stuff before moving inside.

There was a queue of people as usual before the doors opened.

“We aim to have a really good community day in our end of the town. We want people to go away and feel they’ve enjoyed themselves and got a bargain.

“We had lots of stalls selling lots of nice things to buy. Everyone enjoyed their cup of tea and cake as well.

“One of the nicest things is how long people sit on for. We were clearing up and people were still sitting blethering.

“There’s always a great atmosphere. Everyone enjoys themselves, especially the stallholders.”

Jean thanked everyone who donated prizes for the event and McLaughlan Glaziers who loaned their Pride of Paisley lion to the church for the fete.

All the money raised from the fete will go to church funds to pay for a new roof.
