New Paisley specialist care home registration
Registrations are now open for a new specialist care home in Paisley for visually impaired older people.
Jenny’s Well, a 54-bedroom home at Hawkhead Road in the town, is scheduled to open this October.
The facility, built at the site of a former garden centre, is being created by Scotland’s largest sight loss organisation, Royal Blind.
The brand new property will offer nursing care to older people with visual impairment, including those that may have other medical needs such as dementia.
Jenny’s Well will welcome residents who are funded privately as well as through social care.
If couples, close relatives and friends wish to move in together, only one of them needs to meet the sight loss criteria.
Care for Older People’s services manager, Morag Francis, said:“The construction of Jenny’s Well is nearing completion and we are delighted to be opening registration for residents who require a place from October.
“A huge amount of work has gone into creating an ideal environment for our future residents.
“Our facilities have been specially designed with vision impairment and other disabilities and medical needs in mind, with a sensory garden, tactile signage and specialist equipment.
“All of our rooms will be en-suite and set up with the residents’own preferences in mind and personalised with their own furnishings if they wish.
“Jenny’s Well is a much needed service in Renfrewshire and we are very much looking forward to meeting our future residents.”
Jenny’s Well is a collection of four pavilions, with three residential wings, an entrance and administration pavilion which are all connected by a cloister structure.
There is a safe private courtyard which links all three residential pavilions creating a large shared space.
For visiting family members, there will be ample parking and a private family area with a room to stay overnight in times of need.
The home is being built alongside a Scottish War Blinded activity hub for veterans with sight loss.
