Pensioners enjoy an action-packed day out
Pensioners had a SOOPIR time at a special event in the Lagoon leisure centre.
The Strengthening Opportunities for Older People in Renfrewshire (SOOPIR) day was organised by Renfrewshire Seniors Forum.
There was a variety of entertainment on offer, with performances from older people, a quiz, bingo, stalls and music from the Bearsden Fiddlers.
Albert McBain, secretary of Johnstone Seniors Forum, said: “It was a truly fantastic three hours.
“I was in bed by 7.30pm that night, which isn’t like me, because I was on the go all day.
“It was a different format this year because we had seniors performing on stage.
“There were around 310 people there, which is even better than last year. They just kept coming through the doors.
“We have the event twice a year and we try to vary it. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Renfrewshire Seniors Forum works with Roar: Connections for Life, Age Scotland, Linstone Housing Association, Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership and Renfrewshire Council.
As well as the entertainment, everyone enjoyed a light lunch with cakes, scones and a tea or coffee.
The date for the next SOOPIR event is still to be decided, but it is expected to be in October or November this year.
