Celebrating achievers
Thank you for covering the sporting events involving our children and young people with additional support needs. (Express, June 13)
It is good that the achievements of all our learners are celebrated.
There will be many proud parents who saw their child taking pride of place in the Express.
Education is for all of varying abilities.
Schools must realise the foundation they set for the future.
Investment made now will help lead to a brighter future for all our children.
Any cuts will, especially, impact on those children and young people.
The Getting It Right for Every Child or GIRFEC is designed to create an individual support package for children.
Sadly, cuts mean that the number of support staff is under threat.
The new council have an onerous responsibility to ensure that no child is left behind.
Thank you to the Express for highlighting the success of the children and young people who attended and enjoyed the day at the ON-X in Linwood.
Lets hope any cuts do not impact on many children.

How unusual – but interesting – to read about an archaeological dig happening right here in Renfrewshire.
Money from the Heritage Lottery Fund is helping a group get to work on a site in Inchinnan.
It’s said that the All Hallows site was once a church and it will be interesting to see what the dig unearths – literally.
Good luck to all involved.
