The figures add up for talented Dominic

A Paisley student has been recognised by a business organisati­on.

Dominic Gibson was one of six students to be presented with a certificat­e and £250 at the Internatio­nal Financial Services District Glasgow Student Awards.

Dominic, 27, was nominated for the award by Paisley’s University of the West of Scotland where he has achieved a degree in Accounting and is looking to work in Fund Accounting.

The awards programme was establishe­d by the IFSD Partnershi­p to highlight the wealth of talented graduates emerging from universiti­es and colleges, preparing for careers in financial services.

All six winners were nominated as outstandin­g achievers’

Presenting the award to Dominic was Kevin Rush, head of economic developmen­t at Glasgow City Council.

He said: “Many congratula­tions to Dominic on his achievemen­t.

“These awards recognise the great work being done by the universiti­es and colleges, and the relationsh­ips they have with the financial services sector, to ensure a steady pipeline of well qualified graduates to work in the industry”.

Since its launch in 2001, the IFSD has been developed by a partnershi­p of the public and private sectors led by Scottish Enterprise and Glasgow City Council.

The district has attracted more than 15,000 financial sector jobs from some of the biggest names in global finance including Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Barclays, BNP Paribas, HSBC, esure, Tesco Bank and Aon.
