Three and easy at The Bungalow

-

Get your glad rags on and get down to The Bungalow to check out some excellent bands tonight.

Three acts will be playing from 8pm and they are The UnRomantics, Cantormentors and Sean McBain.

For fans of The View, Arctic Monkeys, Pearl Jam and Feet of Clay this gig is right up your street. And it’s free entry. NNE are bringing to The Bungalow tomorrow night the definitive tribute to one of the biggest bands in rock music - R.E.M. The tribute act is called STIPE and has performed the songs of R.E.M. to thousands of people worldwide. R.E.M. built a towering back catalogue that reached from the addictive highs of Shiny Happy People down to the reflective darkness of Everybody Hurts, covering all else in between.

The band plays the songs perfectly and it does help a bit when the lead singer looks the part, and his voice has a uncanny likeness of Michael Stipe’s.

So if you want to hear these songs again live check this lot out tomorrow night at 8pm. Tickets are £12. The Cave has a new slot for more live music starting tomorrow at 6pm with The Signs.

This was the result of customer feedback.

Jen from The Cave told me: “We are always looking to please the customers and ask them what they want, and when they want it”.

After The Signs, The Splendid Sons are playing from 9.30pm till late and on Sunday it is Alan McKim at 6pm. Tonight from 9pm it is Mr Jinx.

Loanhead will be at The Old Swan tonight at 8pm and tomorrow in the Shoppers Slot at 4pm is Nightfly. The Spuds are on at 3.30pm on Monday and Wednesday at 6pm it is The Pre Fab Four. Scruffy Murphy’s have Underwood Lane tomorrow night from 9pm.

Live music at The Anchor starts at 4pm on Sunday and Jen McLachlan is the host of the Monday club at 4pm.

On Sunday from 1pm to 4pm the first of a regular slot allowing young people to perform at Callum’s Cavern will take place.

The open mic events are being run by local singer-songwriter Lisa Kowalski. It is free for under 18s and it is only £2 for adults.

This is a great venue for this type of event and I’m sure it will grow from strength to strength.

So if you fancy playing just pop in and bring all your friends for support.

Riley, an 18-year-old singer/ songwriter from Glasgow will be playing at The Canal Station from 7pm.

Open Mic nights next week are Sunday at The Bungalow from 8pm with Cat Caldwell, Monday 8pm at The Abbey Bar hosted by Dunky Hunter, Andy Lindsey is at The Anchor on Tuesday from 8pm, Tuesday is also Jam Night at Hamishes’ Hoose from 9pm, on Wednesday Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg at 8pm, Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar, and Ashley is at The Tea Gardens – all from 8pm.
