Accused faces claims of manhandling
A carer has been accused of calling elderly residents “idiots” and warning a pensioner he might not get any dinner.
Joanne Docherty could be struck off if a slew of complaints about treatment at Ranfurly Care Home are upheld.
She faces a Scottish Social Services Council disciplinary panel after reports of manhandling and verbally abusing OAPs.
It is claimed she grabbed a resident – referred to only as BB – and “forcefully” pushed them into a lounge chair.
She is also alleged to have fumed “enough is enough, no more” at them.
Gilmour also faces accusations she spoke to an older man in an “inappropriate manner” during a year he spent at the home in Quarrelton Road, Johnstone.
It is claimed she told the resident he was not getting any more tea because he had spilled his.
She is also accused of telling the same man: “If you don’t be quiet, you will not get your dinner” and “I have been up since half four to get ready and look after idiots like you”.
Gilmour is also accused of “repeatedly” refusing to assist the OAP when he was lying uncomfortably and pleading for help.
All allegations date from between June 2015 and July last year.
Gilmour has been summoned to face the claims during a summit in Dundee next month.
Earlier this month, bosses at Silverline Care, which runs the centre, defended its standards of care after a worker was struck off for breaches at Ranfurly’s sister home.
Isobel Wallace, 62, was hammered after she falsified night check records for an elderly woman who died on her watch at nearby Cochrane Care Home.
A hearing ruled she scrubbed out entries from logs in the morning after the lady’s body was found.
Colleagues were crucial in nailing their former co-worker after they gave evidence against her.
Silverline Care insisted the “wellbeing of residents is paramount” and it is focused on “proving highquality care in all our homes”.
