Jason’s brush withTV stars

-

A Paisley student has been brushing shoulders with the stars after working on the set of hit TV series Outlander.

City Glasgow of College painting and decorating student, Jason Edgar, was selected to work on set and spent eight months with the team working on the popular British and US drama.

The 27- year- old, who attended Johnstone High School, got the opportunity to work on the drama series when the head of the set decoration crew for Outlander, Betttina Scheibe, contacted the college looking for trainees.

Jason was recommended and chosen from a shortlist of 20 applicants.

He said his experience is one he’ll never forget.

He explained: “I learned such a lot. It was a real eye-opener seeing the type of work that takes place on a set and what is involved.

“I learned techniques such as ageing and how to make fibreglass moulding look like stone. It’s really interesting to find out how such effects can be achieved.

“I hope to be back and working with the team again soon.”

Harry Mulvenna, senior lecturer in construction and built environment at the college, said it was a brilliant achievement for Jason.

He claimed: “A good relationship has developed between the college and the production company which will undoubtedly bring future opportunities.”
