- Colette Crampsey

These fabulous Paisley kids waved goodbye to their primary school years in style.

Youngsters from St Peter’s danced the night away at their primary seven prom last week.

The children were picked up from school by stretch limos and escorted to St Peter’s Church Hall, where a red carpet walkway led to a glamorously decorated room fit for a party.

There was disco dancing, a photo booth and a ceilidh to be enjoyed.

Some of the teachers even donned their aprons to serve the kids snacks on their special night.

At the end of the celebration, the pupils headed outside and released balloons into the sky, marking their emotional send-off.

Most of the youngsters will be moving on to St Andrew’s Academy, in Paisley, with others heading to Gryffe High and Hutchesons’ Grammar School.

Primary seven class teacher Clair Buckett said it was a fantastic night.

She added: “It was great to see the pupils have fun and let their hair down after a long year of hard work.

“They are fantastic kids and a real credit to the school.

“We wish we could keep them, but they are so looking forward to going to high school and I’m sure they will all do very well.”
