Kirsty smashes her own record

Kilbarchan AAC athlete Kirsty Costello broke her own Scottish U15 hammer record this weekend.

The Habbie was in fine form at the Throws Grand Prix at Craigswood, Livingston.

Despite the windy conditions Kirsty came up with 55.81m in her opening throw to go beyond her own 54.90m record.

But she wasn’t finished there and with her second throw she improved to 55.92m.

A scottishathletics spokesman said: “Many congratulations to Kirsty, her family and coach Jim Green.

“And many thanks to the scottishathletics officials who were on duty at Craigswood on Saturday and all the athletes, parents, coaches and clubs who are supporting these events.”

The final meeting of the four-event series is back at Livingston on Saturday, September 9.
