- David Campbell

Bodybuilders from ProLife Fitness in Paisley are taking the sport by storm and securing medals at competitions across the UK.

The New Sneddon Street fitness facility supports a number of athletes in their training and all the hard work is well and truly paying off.

In recent weeks the team have been competing in some of the biggest bodybuilding competitions in the country and have been coming up with the goods.

The gym sent a team to the British National Bodybuilding Federation Scottish Championships in Perth and came away with a fantastic medal haul.

Lisa Walker won the Masters Figure competition, Sarah McKenzie picked up third in the Athletic Ladies contest and Alex Whelan managed to finish third in the Lightweight Mens’ section.

Phil Roberston secured silver in the Novice Mens’ category and did enough, along with Lisa Walker and Sarah McKenzie, to be invited to the British Championships later in the year.

And not to be outdone, a team represented the gym at the UK Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Championships at the Lagoon in Paisley last weekend.

Stewart McDonald won the Under-80kg crown and Craig Bowie won the Under-70kg title.

Gayle Brannigan, chief executive of Pro- Life Fitness Centre, was delighted with the performance of the team.

She said: “For a lot of them, especially the females, it’s their first time competing so it was very exciting. They were amazing and all looked fab. It was a fantastic day.”
