Family day raises £1k for children’s charity

- Kenneth Speirs

An amazing family fun day has raised more than £1,000 for disadvantaged children.

Evolution Fitness Centre, in Renfrew, organised the fundraiser, which brought in the bumper sum for the Cash For Kids charity.

Fitness centre owner David Di Pinto was thrilled by the turnout and generosity of people.

He said: “I can’t thank you all enough for the turn out and support you all gave us at our family fun day to raise money for Cash for Kids.

“We have almost reached our target of £1,100.

“This contributes to helping kids have a better summer.”

The fun day started off with a spin class, but one of the most popular events was ‘soak the trainer’, which saw the children from Evolution Fitness’s KidsFit classes soak their coaches as a way of getting their own back for putting them through their paces.

Also drawing the crowds was beat the goalie, a bouncy castle, face painting and Sumo wrestling — all of these generating funds for the charity.

David added: “So many people came together in donating home baking.

“It all went down a treat to help raise funds for our charity, and included donations from Peter Lee, of Kwang Tung, and Kirklandneuk Cafe.

“And many thanks to my helpers for the day. I couldn’t have done it without you all — Emma Louise McDonald , Kieran, Laura, Lauren, Charlie, Megan, Allan Scott, Mary Scott, Dariusz AlSaedi, Steven Wilkinson and Michael McDonald.”

David also thanked those who donated raffle prizes.

These included Kad Ahmad, of Musclebound, Paisley, Suzie’s Corner, in Renfrew, Grill in the Park, in Renfrew, Paisley’s Craig Dhu, Sarah’s Beauty Spot, in Bridge of Weir, Joseph Bisland, of the White Cart Shop, Christine Clocherty, of Sprinkles, Renfrew, Morrison’s Erskine, Tesco Renfrew and Mike al-Saudi.

“This was amazing and helped massively in reaching our target,” David said.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for bringing their friends and family to our fun day.

“It was so successful that we will do it on an annual basis.”
