New theatre plan ‘will put Paisley back on the map’

-

Another community group has announced its backing for ambitious plans for a new performing arts and film theatre for Paisley.

The website Paisley. org.uk is supporting the town’s community trust as it firms up its proposal for the £40million venture.

Website founder Brian McGuire has had a sneak peek of plans being put together by awardwinning architects Stallan Brand and said he was very impressed.

He said:“We were delighted to be approached by Paisley Community Trust to review its plans. What can we say, we were blown away with what we saw. The designs look amazing.

“The trust’s plans are exactly what the town needs.

“It will put Paisley back on the cultural map, not just locally, but nationally.

“It will attract people and communities back into use the town.

“There is no doubt this will provide the transformation the town needs. Community groups, council and Paisley Buddies need to get behind the trust’s vision. We’re in.”

PCT was founded back in 2014 by businessman Gary Kerr, computer games entrepreneur Andy Campbell and David Wallace, from PACE Youth Theatre.

Final plans for the £40m project have still to be firmed up, but they are thought to include a flexible main theatre, secondary studio theatre, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, dance studios, several unique cinema spaces, as well as bar and restaurant facilities.
