- Kenneth Speirs

A wonderful £9,000 was raised for the Erskine charity at a colourful event for all the family.

And more than 2,000 people attended the Classic Car Show at intu Braehead, which featured everything from golden oldies to modern-day super cars.

There were plenty of motors on display that people won’t have seen before, such as an Austin 1950s pedal car and a vintage Bentley once owned by Princess Grace of Monaco.

There were stalls, a funfair and entertainment, making it a day for all the family.

There was even a decommissioned weapons display by the 51st Highland, 7th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Susannah Todd, events project officer at Erskine, which cares for ex-servicemen and women, said: “The winners of our People’s Choice Award for Best Classic Car In Show went to Moreno Pisaneschi of Bishopton and his 1950 MG TD.

“The winning Modern Car In Show title was won by Alan Campbell, who came with club Tartan Tarmac and his 2015 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster. “Both were deserving winners. “The move to a new venue at intu Braehead was considered a huge success and we look forward to working with Braehead at next year’s event.”

A big thank you went to Tartan Tarmac for all their help and assistance with the show, as well as Nespresso Business Solutions for keeping all drivers and stallholders fed and watered with complimentary coffee and biscuits throughout the day.
