Goodwin’s heading for Hall of Fame

Cup winning captain Jim Goodwin is to be honoured at this year’s St Mirren Hall of Fame dinner.

Supporters, players and legends alike will gather at the Normandy Hotel, Renfrew, on Friday, October 6, to celebrate 140 years to the day since the club was formed for a gala black tie dinner.

A number of legends will also be inducted, with Goodwin the first to be confirmed.

A club spokesman said: “This will be a night of celebratio­n with a number of ex-players and special guests attending and a number of St Mirren greats inducted into the club Hall of Fame.

“We are delighted to announce the first inductee on the night will be Jim Goodwin, captain of the 2013 League Cup winning team.

“More will be announced over the course of the next few weeks.”

Guest speakers will be on show over the course of the night, including former grade one referee, Willie Young. Comedian Eric Davidson will also keep the crowd entertaine­d, while well known St Mirren fan Bill Leckie will be keeping everything in order.

Individual places are available at £75 plus VAT per person, with a minimum of two places on a shared-table basis.
