Jealous hubby wrecked room in fit of rage

He sent pictures of mess to wife

A stroppy dad trashed his own bedroom after falling out with his wife, a court was told.

Greg Ball, 45, wrecked the room in a fit of temper and sent pictures to his wife Sharon, who had taken the couple’s five kids on holiday to a caravan park.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard Ball, who is estranged from his wife, lost the plot on hearing rumours she was seeing someone else, flipped tables and chairs and emptied drawers, then sent photos of the mess to Mrs Ball on April 17, this year.

Fiscal depute John Penman told the court: “They are a couple who had been together for many years and have five children together.

“Sharon Ball left the home and took the children to a holiday park at Ayr. She left the accused at home.

“She received a message from the him asking for photographs of the children on holiday at 4pm. She replied along the lines she had only just got there.”

The court was told that later that evening the accused sent her messages threatening he was going to wreck the house.

The fiscal added: “In the early hours of April 18, the accused sent several photographs to the complainer showing damage done.

“She contacted police who attended the house and observed damage in the bedroom. The accused was arrested and taken into custody.”

Unemployed Ball, of Ellon Way, in the town’s Gallowhill district, appeared for sentence yesterday after pleading guilty to charges of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm in that he contacted Sharon Ball, his estranged wife, via texts and did cause damage and disorder to the family home and that he sent her pictures of the mess.

His defence agent Michael McKeown said: “The relationship was coming to and end and he received information about his wife, which left him feeling upset.

“He did not take this well and has expressed his remorse over his conduct. They had been together for 15 years.”

Sheriff Susan Sinclair said he had behaved in a “wholly inappropriate” manner but as he had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity, she handed him a fine £120.
