Squad is taking shape
Braehead Clan head coach John Tripp inisists he is pleased with the progress being made on the recruitment front as Clan shape up for the new season.
The new boss has been working hard behind the scenes in a bid to get a competitive squad in place for his debut campaign.
Tripp has had to undertake a significant rebuilding job following the departure of a number of experienced members of the previous squad. The likes of Scott Pitt, Scott Aarssen and Michal Zajkowski have all called time on their Clan careers to play elsewhere, with Tripp still trying to bulk up his numbers.
Goaltender Ryan Nie, Josh Grievson and Jacob Doty have all signed with the squad over the course of the summer, with Tripp hopeful of further additions in the coming days.
He said:“When I first started talking to the Clan about the role, I knew exactly what sort of team I wanted and the club fully supported me in what I wanted,” said the Canadian.
“I appreciate recruitment is slow at the moment, however I can assure everyone that there is plenty going on behind the scenes.
“Myself and Gareth Chalmers are in contact every single day assessing our situation, and I am excited with what we have coming together.
“It’s taking time getting the players we want.
“We are being very thorough with our research and making sure we get the right characters on and off the ice for this organisation.
“We have a number of offers out currently and are looking to finalise deals over the coming days.
“I am looking forward to getting the season started now.”
