We won’t let the cruel vandals win

-

There has been some sad and disturbing news this week.

The Bungalow was broken into on Tuesday and the perpetrators, not being content with stealing stuff, smashed the place up and caused irreparable damage.

It is hard enough to survive in the music industry without mindless morons causing mayhem and destruction to property for no good reason.

This will no doubt result in the owners shelling out money to get back into business.

On the bright side — if there is one — the amount of supportive Facebook messages must have been comforting to Alan Corrigan, who runs the venue.

People have been offering their help to clean the place up and have pledged to provide equipment if any gear needs to be replaced.

A Facebook message from The Bungalow reads: “Absolutely overwhelming kindness, thanks very much indeed. It is a huge team effort at The Bungalow and we aim to work through this.”

Getting back to business, The Mod Club, in conjunction with The Bungalow, is bringing you an all-day event tomorrow, with an amazing lineup of fantastic bands and they are all linked to the Mod scene.

This is definitely one for your diary.

The All or Nothing crew has put together a fantastic running order of popular bands and DJs for this cool event.

The action will be happening from 1pm to 1am — 12 hours of great music and vinyl all in the one place.

If you love Mod and soul music, don’t miss out. These events are always well attended.

The bands confirmed include The Sectors, Three ‘n’ Eights, The Bandits, Mod Life Crisis, Cherry Red 53 and Wartime Coats.

The DJs keeping it all going are Kurtis Whitelock, Tommy Clark, Boab Williamson, Brian Leslie and Kevin Stewart.

Smithers and Jones have been busy all week fitting out the Mod girls and guys.

So expect to see some of the bestdressed people in town, lots of really cool scooters and some really good dancers.

Tickets cost £10 and it all starts at 1pm.

Tonight at The Old Swan, Trueloves will be playing from 8pm and tomorrow — in the early slot at 4pm — Tonsofslob will be performing for all you tired shoppers.

The Spuds are back on Monday for their very popular Monday Sessions, from 3pm, while on Wednesday John Condron and Friends are doing a session from 6pm.

This is the perfect remedy if you have that ‘Wednesday feeling’.

The Cave has another great lineup of live acts starting tonight, with Auld Skool from 9pm.

Tomorrow, in the teatime slot at 6pm, it is Drty Luv and then on the late shift Saturday evening it is Ikon, who will be taking you into the wee hours from 9pm.

On Sunday, at the earlier time of 5pm, local singer-songwriter Lisa Kowalski will be playing and her set will be followed by one of the best jam sessions you will ever witness.

Jim Kielt and friends are forming a house band to be the foundation of another exciting jam at The Cave.

The Anchor has Alan Parker in on Sunday at 4pm and hosting The Monday Club at 4pm is Jenn McLachlan.

Underwood Lane is on at The Bar and Grill from 9pm, while Saporito Wine Bar has a live solo act starting tomorrow night at 10pm and going on to midnight.

Open mic nights next week include: Sunday at The Bungalow from 8pm, with Cat Caldwell; Monday from 8pm at The Abbey Bar, hosted by Dunky Hunter; Andy Lindsey at The Anchor on Tuesday, from 8pm; the Tuesday Jam Night at Hamishes’ Hoose, from 9pm; Johnny Barr is the host at Burger and Keg on Wednesday from 8pm; while Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar and Ashley is at The Tea Gardens, both from 8pm.

The Library open mic is on Thursday from 8pm, as is The Afton’s, with Alan McKim.

Keep music live and have a great weekend.
