Help cops nab gang

-

Police are still hopeful that people will come forward with information after a gang of thieves ransacked a family home before making off with a haul of jewellery.

The raid took place at around 12.30pm last Tuesday at a house in Campsie Drive, Renfrew.

Police aren’t ruling out the possibility that the theft is linked to an attempted break-in that took place the following day, half a mile away.

During that incident, four men, all wearing baseball caps, were spotted in the area in a black Audi.

In the first incident, raiders forced their way into the house while the homeowners were out, before ransacking it.

Numerous personal items, mainly jewellery, were stolen.

Police told the Paisley Daily Express that many of the pieces hold sentimental value for the owners, who were left devastated by the loss of the treasured items.

The failed break-in occurred around 4.50pm, on Wednesday, in Fairfield Drive, Renfrew.

A black Audi, possibly a Q5 or a Q7, was seen in the area, along with four men, described as white and wearing dark coloured clothing, possibly tracksuits.

Three of the men were wearing black baseball caps, while the other was wearing a yellow baseball cap.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are still in the process of reviewing CCTV footage, which has been gathered from in and around the area.

Anyone with information should telephone CID officers at Johnstone Police Station on 101.
