Club hopes to bag cash fromTesco

-

Youngsters at a youth football club are hoping to net bags of cash thanks to a supermarket bonus scheme.

Renfrew Youth Football Club has been selected to take part in the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive a cash award of either £4,000, £2,000 or £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.

Shoppers at Tesco Renfrew are being urged to vote for who they think should take the top grant.

Renfrew Youth Football Club – 2010 Team – is one of the groups on the shortlist and say the grant will help the club pay for new equipment and activities over the next year.

Youth coach Michael Shearer said:“I am thrilled that Renfrew Youth Football Club have been shortlisted for a grant.

The club has a long history in Renfrew and it is fantastic that the customers of Tesco Renfrew can vote to help young boys and girls get more involved in a brilliant sport.”

Bill Cruikshanks, Tesco community officer added:“I’m delighted to have this charitable initiative in store and I know that all the community groups shortlisted will benefit.”

Voting is open in Tesco, Renfrew throughout July and August. Customers can cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.
