Bottles and brollies to the fore for Open competitors

-

It’s open season for bottles and brollies this summer at Paisley Golf Club, thanks to a generous sponsorship by Scottish Water.

Ladies’section captain, Pamela Smith, explained:“All entrants taking part in a Senior, Junior or Ladies’Open at Paisley Golf Club this season will receive a reusable water bottle while prizewinners will receive a Scottish Water golf umbrella.

“This is the third year that Scottish Water has supported our Ladies’Open in this way and it is the first time that the sponsorship has been rolled out to include our Senior and Junior Opens. We are delighted with their support.”

Pamela is pictured standing with Cameron Lyle, captain of the junior section, Joanna Peebles regional community team manager of Scottish Water, and Douglas Reid, junior section convener. They are joined by Junior Open entrants. Douglas Reid added:“This year’s Junior Open at Paisley Golf Club attracted 33 entrants from 12 clubs throughout the West of Scotland. While a healthy field, there is a general fall in the number of youths taking part in junior golf.

“Support like this one from Scottish Water will enhance the experience of young golfers taking part in our sport and may encourage others to give it a go.”

Over 150 seniors took part in the Senior Open hosted by PGC on Thursday, July 6, and over 100 Ladies are expected to compete in the Ladies’Triam Open on Thursday, August 3 – for which there are a few tee times remaining.
