Clan seal deal with American Komet Embach Coach Tripp welcomes winger

- Craig Ritchie

New Braehead Clan signing Mike Embach insists he is ready to teach the league a thing or two having finally completed his own education.

Embach’s signing last week saw the 29- yearold become the Clan’s 11th roster signing of the summer as he arrived from American side, Fort Wayne Komets.

With the thought of the huge decision about swapping North America for Scotland, Embach called upon the advice of his friends who have made the switch in the past.

However, even though they told him the biggest benefit was the fact he could continue his studies, something which he completed, Embach was still sold on the move regardless.

Embach said: “Coming to Braehead was the option for me after talking to a few of my buddies. I know a good few guys that have played in the UK and all of them have said great things about it.

“The biggest draw for them is finishing their schooling or getting their Masters, but I’ve did that over the last three years, so I’m more worried about winning games.

“I spoke to Kyl e Flemington, who was at Edinburgh, who was a teammate of mine, but I also talked to Matt Beca, who was a mutual friend and he spoke highly about everything.

“He made it easy for me, but I have friends that have played all over and their experiences have been positive and it sounds like a fun place to play.

“When you hear so many positive things, it certainly makes you want to be somewhere you want to play.

“Having spoken to John, I’m excited to get over there and see for myself.

Embach’s career has seen him mainly remain North America, although he did enjoy a brief spell with Swedish side Leksands IF in the past.

With considerable experience in America, the Illnois native has racked up over 400 appearances and scored 154 goals, Embach’s new head coach John Tripp insists he is looking forward to seeing him in a purple jersey.

He added: “Mike’s record across his career has been a good one, and well as picking up goals and points on a regular basis, he has a physical side to him,” Tripp said.

“He’s not the tallest player on the team, but he has a lot of heart and all the reports I had were very positive about what he’ll bring to the team.

“I know he was looking to come to the UK and I believe he’s a player that will add something to our offensive game.

“Mi ke has good numbers in his career and I expect him to continue that when he arrives to play with Braehead Clan.”

The wait is almost over for Braehead Clan fans as the upcoming season’s fixtures are set to to be announced.

The fixture list for the 2017/18 season will be announced tomorrow morning, at 9am.

The confirmation of fixtures will give Clan fans the opportunity to plan ahead as they get ready to once again throw their backing behind the side.

And excitement is in the air as they prepare to see
