Lout attacked policeman then groped him

-

A thug kneed a cop between the legs then groped him after sparking a street row.

Melanie Feehan, 40, attacked the policeman after she waded into a spat against orders.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, the yob admitted struggling violently with officers Luke Halbert and Kieran Foster.

Fiscal depute Maureen McGovern told how the Feehan lost control after getting embroiled in an argument for no reason.

She said: “It was 12.50am when police were patrolling Tannahill Road.

“They were attending to activity involving other people outside a house when the accused arrived on the scene and stuck her oar in.

“Police told her to stand back and not to get involved. “She wasn’t for listening. “She started to lash out with her legs at them, kneeing PC Halbert in the groin as she did and grabbed him in the groin area.

“She was arrested and put in the prone position, where she continued to lash out.

“When she was being walked to the car, she continued to lash out and struck PC Foster on the shin.”

Feehan tussled so aggressively she had to be strapped down by the policemen to stop her from attacking.

She was put into the back of a motor and taken to Greenock Police Office after kicking off on August 16 last year in Tannahill Road, Paisley.

Feehan was released on bail the same day, but failed to appear at court when her case was called on January 20.

A sheriff issued a warrant for arrest.

Defence lawyer Gordon R i t c h i e o f f e red no explanation for his client’s behaviour.

Sheriff David Pender warned Feehan she could face a jail stretch.

He said: “With your record and the nature of this offence, clearly reports are required.”

Feehan, of nearby Ferguslie Walk, has been ordered to return for sentencing on August 18.
