Councillor Jacqueline Cameron, chair of the Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Integration Joint Board, said: “We are committed to ensure we continue to meet the needs of service users and carers who access these services.

“The Scottish Government introduction of self- directed support legislation gives people more choice and control than ever over when and where they access social care.” Sports bosses have launched a new exercise toolkit to help folk get back into shape.

The physical activity toolkit was launched to mark the third anniversary of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The project contains resources and teaching materials for health and exercise practitioners to help inactive people become active.

Developed through the Legacy Physical Activity Fund Phase One work, it is being rolled across the country by a group of ambassadors.

Sports Minister Aileen Campbell said: “I’m delighted to see communities right across Scotland continuing to embrace the Games Legacy and get involved in physical activity.

“We know how important an active lifestyle is not just for our physical health, but our mental wellbeing too.

“I’m really excited to be involved in the launch of this toolkit, which I hope will be a useful resource to help more people and communities get involved in sport or whatever type activity suits them.”
