Golfers aim to be top of the Scots at Prestwick
A host of Renfrewshire’s top golfers will descend on Prestwick this morning for the annual Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship.
Prestwick Golf Club and Prestwick St Cuthbert Golf Club are hosting the competition which sees golfers from across the country battle it out for the coveted silverware and a place in the Men’s Home Internationals.
Renfrewshire Union mainstay Matt Clark is among the field set to take to the fairways, as is Elderslie favourite Alasdair McDougall.
The up-and-coming Jamie Stewart, of Old Course Ranfurly, will also be looking to maintain his form, which has seen him compete on the international stage over the course of the summer, representing Scotland on the squad’s recent trip to South Africa.
Furhan Iqbal, of Gleddoch, Stuart Thomas, of Erskine, and Derek Anderson from Lochwinnoch GC, are also among the golfers set to descend on Ayrshire.
