Murder cops on lookout for two men Duo could hold key to dad’s stabbing

- Gavin McInally

Murder squad detectives have released descriptions of two men in connection with the killing of a Paisley dad.

They revealed that a yellow plastic rucksack could hold the key to tracking down the pair, more than two weeks after 31- year- old Craig McClelland was stabbed to death as he walked along a street to play computer games with a pal.

Paramedics rushed him to the town’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him and he died a short time later.

Craig’s senseless death left his girlfriend, Stacey Wilcox, and their young sons – one of them just six months old – heartbroken.

She has posted heartfelt tributes to Craig online and begged the local community to help snare the “sick individual” who took his life.

And last night, officers from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team ( MIT) released descriptions of two men they want to talk to as part of their investigation into the attack in Tweed Avenue, Foxbar on Sunday, July 23.

They believe that one of the men was carrying the distinctive rucksack.

A Police Scotland statement said: “These two men were seen near to Tweed Avenue around the time of the murder and officers believe they may hold information that is vital to the ongoing inquiry.

“The first man is aged between 25 and 30 years of age.

“He is over 6ft tall and was wearing a light- grey coloured tracksuit.

“The second man is of a similar age, around 5 ft 9ins in height, with a slim build.

“He was wearing dark-coloured clothing and white trainers.

“It’s believed he may have been carrying a yellow plastic rucksack.

“Police previously appealed for a man walking his dog to contact them, and he has now done so.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call officers at Paisley Police Station via 101.

Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
