Demetriou makes the top 11 cut
St Mirren star Stelios Demetriou has been named in the SPFL team of the week.
The Cypriot full-back was one of the side’s stand out performers in the Buddies’3-1 thumping of Championship rivals Falkirk at the weekend.
On an afternoon where any one of the starting XI could have been touted for the best 11, Stelios was on hand to level the scoring for the hosts after they had fallen behind to Nathan Austin’s early opener.
Stelios was a January addition last season, joining from Doxa in his homeland before signing a contract extension this summer.
An SPFL spokesman said: “Having bagged three goals from full-back following his January signing last season, the Cypriot defender continued his proficiency in front of goal during St Mirren’s 3-1 win over Falkirk at the weekend.
“Stelios tied things up midway through the first-half after Nathan Austin had given the visitors the lead.
“The Buddies would go on to record an impressive 3-1 victory.”
