Braehead Clan will shine with pride this weekend as they show that ice hockey is for everyone.

Coach John Tripp’s new-look Clan side will take part, along with club mascot Clangus, in the Pride Glasgow parade on Saturday.

Team bosses announced this week that the players and staff will take part in the march under the‘Ice Hockey is for Everyone’banner through the streets of Glasgow.

The Clan have also changed their Twitter picture to include the rainbow pride flag in support of the event.

Clan hockey and operations director Gareth Chalmers was delighted as he revealed the club’s participation and was hopeful that Clan fans would join them.

He said:“We are delighted to be taking part in the Pride Glasgow parade this coming Saturday.

“The Braehead Clan encourage openness and diversity amongst our supporters and our staff, so to be involved in Pride Glasgow fits our belief that ice hockey is for everyone.

“We are inviting Clan fans to join the Clan and Clangus during the parade.

“Wear your Clan colours and show Glasgow what the Braehead Clan is all about.”

Event organisers tweeted yesterday how happy they were to receive the Clans’support. They tweeted:“Great to see sports clubs like @ BraeheadClan supporting us this year and changing their pic to rainbow.”
