Lewis wants to get the feelgood factor back

- David Campbell

Winger Lewis Morgan insists St Mirren have put a difficult week behind them and are now fully focussed on getting a positive result at Livingston this weekend. The 20-year-old says they are not dwelling on and instead they have turned their attentions to getting a result at the Tony Macaroni Arena tomorrow afternoon. But the youngster knows just how awkward the fixture is likely to be having already been on the end of a 1-0 defeat to Livingston in the Betfred Cup in July. He said: “We have another tricky game this weekend away to Livi and we know it will be a difficult match. “They showed us in the League Cup that they can be a difficult side to break down, so we can’t dwell too much on the last week and just need to focus on this Saturday.” Morgan looked back on the his side’s narrow win over East Kilbride in the IRN-BRU Cup first round on Tuesday night and spoke of his sense of relief at getting past the Lowland League St Mirren’s home Championship clash with Queen of the South has been rearranged for TV coverage. The game was scheduled for Saturday, September 23, but has now been moved to Sunday, September 24, with a 4.10pm kick-off to be broadcast live on BBC Alba.

side. “I thought it was going to one of those nights but you have got to give credit to how East Kilbride set up.

“They obviously had a game plan and they stuck to it,” he added.

“It was working obviously until the end and they were maybe hoping that they were going to get a set piece like they ended up scoring from.”

Like gaffer Jack Ross, Morgan was full of praise for the Kilby keeper Jacob Kean who pulled off a string of magnificent saves to keep his side in the game.

Morgan went on: “But you need to give credit to their goalkeeper, I thought he was outstanding on the night.

“It would have been an injustice if we hadn’t ended up winning the game but I think it shows good character amongst this group that we managed to get the win.

“To go down so late on and to be able to fight back just shows that we are up for a fight.

“Maybe we do need to be more ruthless because it could have came back to bite us on another evening.”

There was no sense of elation when the last minute winner went in for Saints says Morgan.

“It wasn’t as much as a celebration at the end, it was more a case of relief to have somehow got back into it.

“The good thing with football is the games come around quickly and it was good to put the weekend behind us.

“Obviously we want to forget about that, though we know it was a bad result for us.”
