Caring firm’s £36k cash boost for groups

St Vincent’s and RAMH celebrate a windfall

- Colette Crampsey Community groups are benefitting from a weighty funding boost.

Mental health charity RAMH and St Vincent’s Hospice have received a generous cash boost from Commercial Property Maintenance Services (CPMS) in Erskine.

Charlie Shiells, managing director at CPMS, and his team raised a whopping £ 36,000, which was split between three good causes, the other being Hazelwood School in Bellahouston.

The money was raised from a family fun day, hosted by CPMS staff, contractors and clients, to celebrate the company’s 21st birthday.

The event, held at Cartha Queens Rugby Club, had free kiddies’ rides and inflatables, a fire engine, buffet tent and drinks tent, welly throwing, and a rugby tournament.

Proceeds on the day, plus donations from CPMS and their customers, resulted in a staggering funding boost.

CMPS donated to RAMH for their dedication to mental health services.

Established in 1978, the charity was formed in order to overcome misconceptions and stigma around mental health, and to provide professional support to those who need it.

It recognises people as individuals and empowers them to develop a unique, holistic approach to their mental health recovery.

Karen McIntyre, RAMH business and enterprise manager, said they were delighted to receive the boost.

She added: “This donation will make a huge difference in providing services for local people experiencing mental ill health.

“RAMH supports over 4,000 local people every year and £ 12,000 will allow us to provide creative, therapeutic, social and educational services which otherwise wouldn’t be available.

“It will help local people to move through their mental health recovery journey even more effectively and sustainably.”

St Vincent’s Hospice is a palliative and end of life care service which looks after people affected by life limiting illness.

The hospice relies on donations to cover the costs of providing high levels of care in the community.

The cash award from CPMS was welcomed by staff, who thanked everyone involved in the fundraiser.

A spokesperson for St. Vincent’s said: “We were delighted to be chosen as one of the nominated charities, and to receive a cheque for an incredible £12,000.

“Thank you to Charlie, Trish, everyone at CPMS, and everyone who was involved in raising this fantastic amount.”
